Age of Mythology: Retold is off to a strong start despite some controversy surrounding its first DLC, the Legacy Deity Portrait, which replaces artwork with the 2002 original’s images for $6. While the DLC has received a “very negative” rating on Steam, it hasn’t impacted the game’s overall success.

As of September 5, Age of Mythology: Retold has hit a high of 20,869 concurrent players, surpassing games like Age of Empires 3: Remastered, Bellwright, and Tropico 5. The game has garnered around 4,500 reviews, with 92% being positive. It’s ranked sixth on the Steam global sales chart and fourth in the U.S., performing better than other new releases like Spectre Divide and The Casting of Frank Stone.

It’s also the 7th most sold title this week on Steam, with a massive jump in positions.
