Key notes
- Walking Woods can easily deplete your enemies of wood.
- You can also use it to destroy your enemy’s buildings.
In the original Age of Mythology, Walking Woods was always regarded as a God Power limited by its own mechanics, but Retold has changed this and, by doing so, made it one of the most dangerous Norse God Powers for early matches.
Here’s why.
Granted by Njord, for all those worshipping Loki and Odin, Walking Woods turns a certain area of woods into Walking Woods, decent-powerful myth units. In the original game (for the most part of it) Walking Woods were uncontrollable units, and they would rather attack other units.
In Retold, however, the player can fully control them, which is advisable for many reasons.
This is how Age of Mythology: Retold makes Walking Woods a potent God Power
The Walking Woods can be used in an early attack aggression to quickly eliminate your enemy’s Town Center and hastily erase your enemy’s base. Why? Well, that’s because they have a vast Crush attack, making them the perfect units to destroy buildings early in the game.
The God Power will summon eight such units, each with a health pool of 240 HP which is more than enough to take on a Town Center. Using it wisely can deplete your enemy of any wood resources and force them to move their villagers to another patch.
Coupled with some Hersirs and other Infantry, you can easily eliminate your enemy early in the game. Age of Mythology: Retold has made this God Power so potent that it has its own Norse Build Order that is guaranteed to bring you results.
You’ll have to get to Heroic Age quickly, choose Njord, and amass a small army to attack your opponent while they’re still building and researching tech. The 8 Walking Woods will take down buildings incredibly easily.
If you play with Loki, make sure to recruit Hersirs, as they will automatically spawn myth units when battling.
