Key notes

  • In the original game, you can only have 1 Son of Osiris.
  • Retold changes the scheme: you can have as many as you want, as long as you Favor.

In the Age of Mythology, the Son of Osiris God Power has always been powerful, but Retold has made it even stronger, and I might argue it is the strongest God Power in the entire game. Why? Because in Age of Mythology: Retold, you can use the Son of Osiris more than once and have multiple Sons of Osiris simultaneously. Just look at the tale of this Reddit user.

For those new to the game, Son of Osiris is the God Power granted by choosing Osiris as your Mythic Minor God in the Egyptian Pantheon. You must worship Ra or Isis, which must be cast on your Pharaoh. The Pharaoh will then turn into the Son of Osiris Hero, a powerful creature that does multiple damage to units and is a nightmare to deal with.age of mythology retold son of osiris

  • He can’t be healed, and this was one of the significant drawbacks in the original game, as once killed, then that was it. In Retold, however, this doesn’t matter anymore because if your Son of Osiris dies, you can easily replace it with another.
  • He’s got divine immunity, which means he cannot be targeted by enemy God Powers. Think Bolt, Chaos, or Traitor. None of them work on this unit. He can Empower buildings and heal other units, and because he’s a Hero, he can also pick Relics.
  • He’s a hero, so he’s devastating against myth units, including Titans, but he can be used to take down small armies by himself.
  • He can also benefit from Armor research and other myth tech focusing on infantry.

Coming back to my theory on why the Son of Osiris is the strongest God Power in the Age of Mythology: Retold? Well, repeatability.

Choosing Osiris will grant you access to the New Kingdom tech, which generates an extra Pharaoh. Coupled with the Son of Osiris God Power, which turns the Pharaoh into this unit, Age of Mythology: Retold lets you repeat this endlessly, as long as you have Favor. It’s worth noting that all of your enemies will be notified when you summon him, so take care of him, until you can afford another.

But here’s the trick: you can use the Sons of Osiris to empower your Monuments, automatically generating more Favor; you can quickly get 4-5 Sons of Osiris, which will be a total nightmare for your enemy.

He’s efficient against Nidhoog or Vermillon Birds, as they’re myth units, and he can used to beat a Titan. Imagine having 4 or 5. Or even 20 of them.

I think Son of Osiris is the best God Power in Age of Mythology: Retold. But if you disagree, tell me why, below.
