Say what you want to say about the hard way of gathering Favor as Norse, but this Pantheon has some of the best Archaic God Powers in the Age of Mythology: Retold, and the best of them not only as Norse, but the whole game, is, without a doubt, the Dwarven Mine.
Granted by Thor, the Dwarven Mine is a Gold Mine that can be summoned pretty much anywhere on the map, as long as you have a Line of Sight. Players can mine it using their Villager.
The original game doesn’t change it much, and compared to Age of Mythology: Retold, the Dwarven Mine has stayed pretty much the same. However, playing Retold made me realize that Dwarven Mine is the greatest Archaic God Power in the Age of Mythology. Here’s why.
This is why Dwarven Mine is the best Archaic God Power in Age of Mythology: Retold
1. Endless supply of Gold
Considering you have enough Favor, the Dwarven Mine can be an endless supply of gold for your Norse base. Plus, you can get it near the town center, so you won’t have to build Ox Carts.
2. It gets richer by advancing Ages
You’ll get 500/1000/3000/6000/7500 per Archaic Age, Classical Age, Heroic Age, Mythic Age, or Wonder Age.
3. It’s an excellent late-game resource management God Power
Finally, one of the best things about the Dwarven Mine is that it can be an endless source of Gold when reaching end game. When all of the Gold Mines are depleted, the Dwarven Mine, along with Caravans, can fund the army’s recruiting for your battles. You’ll have enough Favor to summon plenty of Gold Mines, ensuring you never run out of Gold.
While Caravans and the Market could provide a steady flow of Gold, too, they are often vulnerable to attacks; to such a degree, it can cripple the economy.
However, the Dwarven Gold Mine can be simply summoned deeply within your base, without the fear of getting attacked (that is if your opponent is not Atlantean and it’s not using Vortex).
