- It has a cooldown of 240 seconds.
Age of Mythology: Retold has dozens of God Powers focused on damage, but Meteor is by far one of the most devastating to cast on your enemies. Granted by Thoth, once you reach the Mythic Age playing with the Egyptian Pantheon, compared to other similar God Powers, Meteor is all over the place.
Once cast, this God Power will shower the area in blazing meteors, damaging buildings and scattering units all over. It’s free when you use it the first time, then it will cost you 350 Favor, plus 5 Favor more subsequently.
Meteor lasts about 20 seconds, recharging 240 seconds in Age of Mythology: Retold, which makes it perfect for harassing your opponents before attacking them. Still, it is also one of those damage-dealing God Powers that can seriously destroy a base on its own.
This is why Meteor is so devastating in Age of Mythology: Retold
Meteor rains down about 9 meteors in a certain area for 20 seconds. The first one meteor will always hit where you cast the God Power, with the rest of 8, hitting randomly.
If you cast it inside your opponent’s base, it can be devastating, as it can easily destroy buildings and even manage to destroy work units. Meteor does relatively moderate damage to units, but it can take down workers, leaving your opponent economically crippled for a few minutes.
A drawback of this God Power is that it needs Line of Sight and can also damage your units, but if Set is your Major God, you can use his Vision and then cast Meteor, which is a majestic combo. However, be ready to follow up with a full-scale attack to take advantage of the chaos.
Contrary to the original game (which is still up for grabs on Steam), Age of Mythology: Retold lets you cast it more than once, which is also good, as you can perfect this strategy under Set’s guidance.
Prepare an army, and move it closer to your enemy base. Use Vision, cast Meteor, wait until it’s finished, and then attack. You’ll win almost every time.
