age of mythology caladria

Granted by the Atlantean Minor God Oceanus, Caladria is one of the best-supporting units in Age of Mythology: Retold. Compared to the original game (which is still up for grabs), Retold made it up for its inability to attack with extra abilities that can easily win you battles if used properly.

For starters, Caladria is a flying myth unit, one of the fewest in the game, that cannot attack. However, it can heal, and since Age of Mythology: Retold, Calabria can also instantly heal units and slow down enemy ones.

Caladria is relatively cheap (100 wood, 25 gold, 12 favor), and it can heal up from the air for a relatively 15 HP/second, which is faster than Valkyrie, for example. In battle, this creature will slow down enemies by 100% for 5 seconds, making them highly vulnerable to attacks. The ability has a cooldown of 20 seconds.

Used correctly, 2 or 3 Caladrias can give you a gigantic advantage in early-game battles and even win matches. Here’s why.

Why is Caladria one of the best-supporting units in Age of Mythology: Retold

First of all, Caladria is a flying myth unit, and that means it cannot be targeted by melee units or infantry. In the early game, few players will think about recruiting ranged units, so in an open battlefield, if the enemy doesn’t have ranged units, they cannot kill this creature. This gives you a huge advantage, and it can win you not only the battle but the match, as well.

Its healing rate is fast and can restore your army to full health in just a few seconds. Plus, its ability to slow down enemy units makes it valuable to have when engaging in battles with stronger myth units. Imagine a Colossus being slowed down by Caladria. You’ll get it down without taking damage.

Although Caladria is weak against ranged units, you can also use it to explore the areas. It’s fast, it flies over barriers, and it can be a useful creature if you want to cast Vortex into your enemy base, for example – as you’ll need Line of Sight to do it.

So definitely consider choosing Oceanus for this creature.
