A Plenty Vault in the Age of Mythology: Retold is one of the most coveted buildings you can have. This building is a God Power granted by the Greek God Hephaestus, which can be chosen once you reach the Mythic Age.

Hephaestus can be chosen as a Minor Mythic God no matter the Major Greek God you’re worshipping, although selecting the best Major Greek God can be tricky since they all have strong abilities.

Either way, back to the Plenty Vault.

What is a Plenty Vault in Age of Mythology: Retold?

As we mentioned, the Plenty Vault is a God Power in the form of an indestructible building that generates resources for the player that controls it. It generates a trickle of 15 food, 15 wood, and 15 gold every five seconds, with 180 resources per minute.

As resources are the backbone of Age of Mythology: Retold, a Plenty Vault is an incredibly potent God Power for the end-game: it maintains a steady flow of resources, even if your work units are killed, allowing you not only to survive but thrive and even win the battles, when all the gold mines and wood trees are gone.

One of the best things about the Plenty Vault is that it’s a Mythic God Power, and it’s available only later in the game, so if your enemy can build one, they can only do so after they reach the Mythic Age.

And with the exciting feature that Age of Mythology: Retold brought to the game, allowing players to use God Powers more than once, you can have more than just a Plenty Vault – assuming you have the necessary favor for it. It’s an upgrade from the original game, which only lets players build and control one Plenty Vault in a match.

If you can build 3 Plenty Vaults and keep them under control, there is no point in wasting population space for work units.

Naturally, if your enemy has even a Plenty Vault, they’re at an advantage from a resource point of view, so your goal is to destroy this building as soon as possible.

But can you destroy a Plenty Vault in Age of Mythology: Retold?

How to Destroy a Plenty Vault

Newsflash, you can’t! You can only control it, and it doesn’t require much. Basically, you’ll only need to place your units nearby to it to control it.

When attacking an enemy base that has Plenty Vault, you’ll notice that you don’t really need to destroy the entire base to control this building. You’ll have to make sure your units are near it, and it will start generating resources for you instead.

So, if you’re playing against a Greek worshipper player, and they decide to go with Hephaestus, the best strategy is to attack as soon as possible.

Otherwise, they will be able to research the Titan Gate (which takes a lot of resources), and you don’t want to deal with a Titan. Well, you most definitely can destroy one, but that’ll require additional strategy.

Ironically, even if immune to damage, the Plenty Vault still benefits from building technology advancements in the Age of Mythology: Retold. It almost feels like the game is tricking us into thinking we can destroy it.
