Bolt is one of the most effective early God Powers you can access in Age of Mythology: Retold. It’s granted by Zeus, from the Greek Pantheon, and when used well, it can win matches. It can mean defeat in AI-driven Skirmish and multiplayer games if used wrong.
With Bolt, you can strike a single enemy unit with a lightning bolt, causing extreme damage that will kill the unit (and most units in Age of Mythology: Retold, for that matter).
It’s free to use for the first time. The subsequent times, you’ll need to wait 90 seconds, which will cost 55 favors + 5 each time you cast it one more.
It inflicts 10000 damage on a single target, except for the Titan, which inflicts 2500 damage. Special units like Nidhogg or Son of Osiris, transport units, working units, and Ox Carts are Bolt-immune in Age of Mythology: Retold.
How to use Bolt in Age of Mythology: Retold
The best way to use this God Power in multiplayer matches (and not only) is in the Classical Age, when your opponent already has a powerful myth unit or hero. Destroying that myth unit will give you an advantage against your enemy and allow you to destroy their buildings easily.
Using it easily in the game would be best, and the Classical Age is the right moment. Why? Because the economies are smaller, your opponent cannot access many powerful heroes or myth units. Killing the one expensive myth unit that is harder to replace is a proper way to establish dominance and control your opponent, which means winning the game.
Don’t use Bolt on scout units or other units that can be easily killed. Your enemy can easily replace them, and it won’t cost their economies either.
Be aware that you can’t use it on the Son of Osiris or Nidhogg, two very powerful creatures created by God’s Power, so don’t wait until the Mythic Age to cast Bolt on them.
Age of Mythology: Retold is now available on Steam.
