Key notes
- Kronos and Oranos have some of the best abilities in the game.
- Kronos can deconstruct buildings, while Oranos keeps an eye on your enemy.
- If you can win matches in the first 10 minutes, if you’re following these Build Orders.
The best Atlantean Build Order in Age of Mythology: Retold can be achieved with either Kronos or Oranos since they have powerful abilities (ironically, though, Oranos is not a good option long-term, as he’s one of the weakest Major Gods out there).
You can also play with Gaia, sure, and her Build Order is one of the strongest in the entire Age of Mythology: Retold, but playing her is more suited for long matches and less fitting for openers.
The Atlantean Pantheon was enhanced in Age of Mythology: Retold and each Build Order we listed below uses Oranos/Kronos’s native abilities to succeed. For example, you’ll use Deconstruct to move your buildings around the map when playing with Kronos, while you’ll want to constantly attack your enemies to keep track of their movements if you’re playing with Oranos.
Either way, whatever Atlantean Build Order you choose in Age of Mythology: Retolt matches, you have the following options.
Here are the best Atlantean Build Orders in Age of Mythology: Retold
The Defensive Opener (Oranos)
Archaic Age:
- Order 1 Citizen to hunt Food.
- Order the other Citizen to gather Wood.
- Build a Temple.
- Recruit 1 new Citizen to mine Gold,
- Builds a Manor.
- Recruit 4 more Citizens to gather Food.
- Advance to Classical Age.
- While advancing, you should switch 2 Citizens from Food to Wood and build an Economy Guild to research resource-gathering tech.
Classical Age:
- If you’re not worried about being rushed, you can use the Valor God Power on your Citizens, which gives them a 10% bonus to gathering.
- Build a manor.
- Move your hunting Citizens to the second pack of animals, and gather Food there.
- Build a Barack.
- Start building your Army.
Why It Works: Oranos’s native abilities mean you’ll always keep an eye on your enemy, as you’ll be able to see them for 25 seconds after they get hit. This means you can counterattack any push from your enemies while building your base. Plus, the Sky Passages will grant you swift movement across the map.
The 2 Town Center Strategy (Kronos)
Archaic Age
- Order 2 Citizens to Food.
- Order 1 Citizen to mine Gold.
- Spread your Oracles to generate Favor.
- Order 1 Citizen to gather Wood.
- Build a Manor.
- Order 1 Citizen to gather Wood,
- Put 1 more Citizen to Food,
- Build a Temple.
- Order 1 more Citizen to Food and move the Wood Citizens to Food,
- You should have 6 Citizens on Food and 1 on Gold,
- After they finish gathering Food, order the 2 Citizens who were on Wood to harvest Wood again.
- Advance to the Classical Age. While advancing:
- Move your Temple using Kronos’ Deconstruction Ability.
- Build 3 Manors and deconstruct them at the nearest Settlement.
Classical Age
- Using your Myth Units, initiate a fake push on your enemy
- Use Valor on one of your Citizens
- Deconstruct the Temple near the Settlement.
- Build the second Town Centre with Temporal Scaffolding.
- Upgrade your Towers
- Build a Military Barracks and an Armory
- Advance to Heroic Age
Heroic Age
- Build your Army, and start harassing your enemy.
Why It Works: Kronos’ ability to Deconstruct means you can move buildings anywhere on the map, and the Major God’s Temporal Scaffolding will speed the process of the building if your buildings are near, making it excellent to capture Settlements easily, and more important, quickly.
The Atlantean Standard Opener (Oranos/Kronos)
Archaic Age
- The initial free Citizen goes to Wood, and the other one goes to build a Manor and then to mine Gold.
- Order the other Citizen to gather Wood until it reaches 30, then order them to gather Food.
- Gather 150 Gold.
- Build a Temple.
- Order the Gold Citizen to gather Food.
- Recruit new Citizens and order them to Food until you have 8.
- Advance to Classical Age.
- You should be able to achieve this around 2 minutes in the game.
Classical Age
- Depending on the matchup, open up with either a second Town Center or Barracks + Counter Barracks, double Counter Barracks, or double Barracks.
Why It Works: You can advance to the Classical Age faster than any other Pantheon, which gives you early access to Military buildings required to recruit an army. If you’re playing with Kronos, you can move your buildings around the map, while Oranos’ excellent abilities will keep you informed on your enemy’s movements.
Regardless of the Build Order you choose with as Atlantean, Age of Mythology: Retold forces you to keep a close eye on your Citizens. Enemies will most likely raid them. Consider deconstructing Guard Towers on mining sites and building Sky Passages to offer them a quick escape in case your enemy targets them.
